CASE STUDY: Stunning LED Display For London 2012

We were delighted to work on one of the more eye-catching features to be seen at the London Olympic games – here’s more about the project…

By far one of the biggest projects we have ever been involved with, and certainly one of the most high-profile, was this LED lighting display created for the 2012 Olympics held in London.

We were approached to supply LED tape, not to mention our our extensive know-how, for a spectacular lighting creation which was used at the fencing venue within the Olympic Park in Stratford, East London.

With the task of producing a stunning and effective lighting display, which was to provide a spectacular and modern backdrop to this most ancient of sports, we set about liaising with the team behind the project to come up with a solution that combined tradition and modernity.

Using premium 24 volt LED lighting tape, which is ideal for such professional uses and combined with the latest DMX controllers we were able to contribute to the fantastic final result, which wasn’t just seen by those at the event, but the millions of TV viewers around the world too. And what’s more, we were able to do all of this well within the three month deadline we were set.

Once again our technical knowledge and experience enabled us to deliver a wealth of value to complex installations on time and on budget which was reflected in the success of this project and what’s more, we are currently trialing more work ahead of the 2020 Tokyo Olympics using addressable LED tape – so watch this space for more stunning creations from Ultra LEDs..
